The Unfinished Cathedral: A Somewhat Unusual Mother’s Day Sermon
If
you’re arriving at Mother’s Day
with any measure of
mom guilt,
mom issues,
missing your mom,
longing to be a mom,
mom dysfunction,
feeling like you’re failing as a mom,
or maybe just
hearing the phrase Father, Son & Holy Spirit
and thinking,
“Really? No feminine conception of the divine?
Doesn’t the Judeo-Christian tradition
hold ANY space for an image of God as Mother?”
Well—whatever your gender, and whether or not you have children, I gave this quirky sermon for you.
And if you somehow escaped ALL of the above, then you can still learn about
a fascinating architectural structure in Bermuda,
what I have in common with Peter Dinklage,
and how to find a little more wholeness.
Here’s the sermon! You’ll need to skip 18 minutes in,
past the announcements and music (unless you want to hear the announcements and music, of course).
